5 Ingredient Protein Balls Recipe

2 Mins read

Our school year starts tomorrow. Gone are the lazy days of summer and we are headed into full days and busy nights. Although we are all sad to be heading into the school year, we did a lot of fun things this summer that we are still reminiscing about. For me, the school year brings home lunches and after-school snacks to plan. When I was talking about it with our kids the other day, they said I definitely had to have one our favorite recipes on the list. This 5 Ingredient Protein Balls Recipe is so easy to make and you can make a batch in under ten minutes. My kids love them after school and I love to put them in their lunches as well. They are a protein-packed “treat” that fuels them for the rest of the afternoon at school.

5 Ingredient Protein Balls

  • 1 c.  Bob’s Red Mill Old Fashioned Oats
  • 3/4 c. Creamy peanut butter (I have never tried crunchy peanut butter, but if you like a little extra crunch, I think it would be good.)
  • 1/4 – 1/3 c. honey
  • 2 Scoops of your favorite vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 – 1/3 c. Chocolate chips (or however many end up in the bowl)
  1. This is the best part. All you have to do is mix all of the ingredients together until it forms a dough.
  2. I have had to add more honey or more oats depending on how the dough looks. It it is too wet, I had a little more oats. If it is too dry, I add a little more honey.
  3. Once the dough forms, roll into 1″ balls. That’s it!
  4. Only five ingredients and put together in under ten minutes!
  5. I store them in an air-tight container in the fridge.

I love Bob’s Red Mill oats. They are kiln roasted to give them that wholesome flavor you come to expect from oats. Their Gluten Free Oats are sourced gluten-free, packaged in their 100% gluten-free facility and tested every step of the way to ensure their gluten-free status. I like to use oats in many, many recipes. They are an incredibly versatile whole grain and rich in dietary fiber that can help reduce cholesterol. Definitely a staple in my kitchen.

These are a favorite around our house. Matt will take them in his lunch for work too. They don’t last long in the fridge after I make a batch. 😉
