Spring Cleaning: 5 Quick Tips To Make Organizing Easier

This 5 Quick Tips To Make Organizing Easier post was sponsored by WayFair. All opinions are my own.

When I think of spring cleaning, I not only think about scrubbing floors and washing windows, but I also think about ORGANIZING! Spring is the perfect time to get the entire house in an organized state so you don’t have to deal with it during the warmer months ahead. I have always loved organizing. When I was younger, I would spend my free time organizing my room over and over again. I wanted to come up with the best ways to keep the things I had in order. In college, I had some “clients” who paid me to help them get organized. Being organized doesn’t have to be a fantasy thing you hope to obtain some day. It is obtainable right now.

Getting organizing is very hard for some people. My dad has a hard time staying on task when he tries to organize the garage. My sister gets overwhelmed at the magnitude of organizing her home that she quits before she gets started. The struggle is real, but I am here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be hard.

I am sharing 5 Quick Tips To Make Organizing Easier and obtainable for you right now.

5 Quick Tips To Make Organizing Easier - Want to get organized, but feel overwhelmed? Follow these 5 Quick Tips To Make Organizing Easier from My Creative Days to make is less daunting.

1. Be Prepared:

When you start spring cleaning, you make sure to have all of the cleaning supplies you need, right? The same goes for the organizing side of spring cleaning. Get two empty boxes or totes for the organizing purge. You need one labeled “donate” and the other labeled “trash”. Have a notebook and pencil with you so you can write down things you need to organize what you have left. Being prepared is half the work of organizing. If you have everything you need to get started, you won’t feel discouraged half-way through.

2. Start Small:

This is probably the biggest tip I share with people. When you think about spring cleaning and adding organizing to the mix, it is way too overwhelming. Don’t mix the two. Take a few days to get all of the cleaning done. Then, go back and start organizing. Organize small spaces first. Start with drawers. Once you get the drawers done, move on to closets. Then, tackle entire rooms. You will be amazed how organizing gets easier if you start small. Don’t try and tackle it all at once. There is no reason to and you won’t get it done.

3. Make Organizing Pretty:

I firmly believe that if you make your organized spaces pretty, you will want to keep them that way. These Decorative Baskets from WayFair are perfect for blankets, toys, books and magazines. They are pretty on the outside and are super functional in keeping things organized.

4. Follow the “One In – One Out” Rule:

THIS ONE IS BIG! To make organizing easier, you need to follow this rule. For every one thing you bring into your home, one thing goes out. If you buy a new book, donate the one you just finished to the library. New makeup? Toss out the old makeup. This rule will make sure you stay organized.

5. Stay Consistent:

My last tip is to stay consistent. Like everything in life, consistency is key. If you aren’t consistent, you won’t stay organized. A great way to stay consistent is to make sure you always keep an empty box in your home. Fill the box with things you don’t love or aren’t using anymore. Once the box is full, donate it.

I hope these 5 Quick Tips To Make Organizing Easier help your organizational process.
