It is Friday!!!
Fridays are great for so many reasons, but around here, Fridays in April and May mean it is time for another addition of Decorate By Color! This week is all about blue decor. I started the series with green because it is my favorite color, but blue is a very close second. It pulls at my decorating heart-strings all the time and it is starting to creep into our home’s decor more and more. Like any color, blue has so many different shades and hues that makes it perfect for any style and home. You can go with a rich, dark hue or a lighter, more airy blue. The possibilities are endless and I had so much fun browsing around for blue decor to add to this post.
This sofa is so, so pretty! The wood legs had me first because of the finish they have. The rich, blue color is great for a living room or family room if you have kiddos because it will help hide spills and stains. You wouldn’t think of this color as neutral, but you can add so many different colored throw pillows and blankets to it to change the look and feel throughout the year. It will match so many colors and styles which makes it like a “neutral” to me.
Wallpaper gets a bad wrap, but it is not bad. Wallpaper has come a long way from the 80’s and before that. I have been thinking of different spaces I can add it to our home. I found this robin’s egg blue wallpaper that has an aged patina to it that I thought would be gorgeous in a home. It would work with dark colors and lighter decor as well.
Sideboards can be used in so many rooms! They can serve as bars, entertainment centers or in a dining room as a buffet for extra storage.
Do you have an outdoor space that you would like to make over for spring and summer? These chairs are perfect! We need a big, outdoor table to put these around to eat alfresco all summer long.
I found a couple of curtain options that I couldn’t choose between so I added them both. I liked them both for different reasons. Stripes are always fun and the tassels on the other curtains are dreamy!
Big clocks are great for telling time and they are art when added to a wall. This particular clock has just the right amount of blue on it that I had to add it to this blue decor post.
I just got this rug in the mail and LOVE IT! It is going to be part of our front porch makeover. The colors are perfect for the outdoors. If you are looking for an outdoor rug (or indoor rug for that matter), I would recommend this one for sure.
Lamps are like jewelry in a room. When I saw this lamp, the faint blue color and shape of the base were too good not to include in this post.
Functional storage is a must. Pretty storage is even better. A storage bench is great for a bedroom, living room or porch. It can store many things, you can use it as seating and it is a decor piece in the space.
Rugs, like lamps are more jewelry you can add to your space. You can go a little more bold with a rug in your space. It is not permanent and can add so much personality to the room you add it to.
Art can be anything you hang on the wall. I liked the blue feathers for this post. It is simple, brings in blue decor and is so affordable.
When I started this Decorate By Color series, I had no idea how much fun I would have with it. It is fun to have one color to focus on while doing each post. Research for some posts and projects is not always fun, but browsing around for different colored decor has been a great change from my every day posts and something I look forward to doing. I hope you have enjoyed these posts as much as I have. We have a few more weeks to go and many colors to get through.
