DIY Wooden Tray Made From A Drawer

2 Mins read

With the holidays around us and everyone entertaining and celebrating a little more, I thought this DIY Wooden Tray would be a great post to share with you today.

A wooden tray is so versatile. I love them and use them for so many different things.

This particular tray project began with this drawer I picked up at a yard sale.

It was the perfect depth for a tray and I liked how big it was.

When I got it home and started working on it, it looked like someone had taken the finish off the drawer. That was perfect because when I added dark stain to it, it made it look like weathered, barn wood! {Insert the happy dance here}.

Look at that color.

Perfection.

To make it a “tray”, I added drawer handles to both ends of the drawer.

Now, it is time to add a little fun with the Chevron Patterns Stencil Mask.

I did not want the pattern to be perfect and I wanted it to look worn so I added a few of the stencils to the tray without measuring.

I dry brushed white paint over the stencils.

After I removed the stencils, I sanded the pattern to make it more faded.

I love how it turned out!

This wooden tray will get tons of use.

I will use it for movie nights and fill it with popcorn bags and sodas.

It’s perfect by our fire pit for smores.

I will also use it as a centerpiece on our table – filled with flowers, twigs and other natural things.

And, I will use it to serve food and drinks in when we entertain.
