How To Make A Fall Garland That’s Pretty & Inexpensive

2 Mins read

Who is ready for fall? Right now, the weather in Iowa is very hot and humid so it is not feeling like fall at all, but the inside of our home is starting to welcome the season. I love bringing out decor from the previous year, but every time a pull out the bins for a new holiday or season, I always purge all the things I don’t love anymore. This usually leads to me being inspired to create some new things for the season or holiday. This fall garland came to me after I purged all of our fall and Halloween decor and while I was shopping at our local Michaels store with Gabrielle.

I get asked all the time how I find inspiration and my answer is – EVERYWHERE!

I get inspired everywhere I go and on this particular day, I was inspired to create a fall garland while standing in the craft section at Michaels. The fall colored felt grabbed my attention and I started thinking of different ways I could use it to bring fall goodness into our home.

After lots of thinking, the fall garland idea was born. The hardest part was choosing which colors of felt to use for the project.

I decided to go with a mustard yellow (a color I have always loved), green, cream and a brown color. They looked great together and I thought they represented fall so well.

Supply List For This Fall Garland:

Felt In Different Colors: (I bought 6, 8 x 11 sheets of each color for this garland. Depending on how long you want the garland and how much of each color (I did less green than the other colors), will determine how much you need.) My garland is about 5′ long.

Hot Glue Gun

Thicker/Stronger Ribbon

The fall garland couldn’t have been more easy to put together.

I created a video of how I did it to show you the process:

See what I mean? Super simple and you can make it as long or short as you want to. I thought it would be beautiful wrapped around an embroidery hoop to make a fall wreath as well. They may still happen in our house. I am needing something to hang on the front door.
