DIY Metal Cart Makeover

2 Mins read

I have a weakness for metal carts. They are versatile, have storage and can be moved around easily. I think they are a “must-have” for people who live in smaller places. You can use them for bar carts at parties, snack stations during the holidays and even a “mini” kitchen island if you need it. Right now, I am using one as an end table in my family room. This metal cart makeover is a great example of how you can take an old, ugly piece and make it pretty and functional for what you need.

I found this cart at a yard sale. It was in desperate need of a makeover and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it when I got it home.

It was missing the casters on the bottom of the legs and the “trays” were dirty and chipping in places.

All it needed was a little Rustoleum spray paint and four rubber leg tips.

I took the entire cart apart and cleaned it.

Then, while it was apart, I painted the trays black and the arms bronze.

Isn’t it handsome? As soon as I put it back together, that was the first word that came to my mind. It is masculine, grown-up and super chic.

The black leg tips were the perfect solution for the bottom of the legs. They were inexpensive and so much easier than trying to find casters that would fit and work.

I had so much fun staging this handsome cart as a beverage station.

It is perfect for that.

The bronze and black look great together.

You would never guess it was a neglected white cart in its previous life.

This would be so much fun at a holiday party or even decorated for a big football game.

I am so happy with this makeover! It was easy to do, didn’t take a lot of time, and only used some spray paint and leg tips to do it. My favorite kind of project!
