Decorate With Artificial Christmas Greenery INEXPENSIVELY!

2 Mins read

Today, I am joining my blog friends to bring you easy ways to decorate with flowers, greenery and foliage around the holidays. Have you started decorating for Christmas? I started a couple of weekends ago. I love decorating early and working hard to get all my deadlines out of the way for the blog so that I can spend the season with family and friends without worrying about work. Like with everything, I am always looking for ways to save money in decorating our home for Christmas. Artificial Christmas greenery can be expensive!!!

WHOA! I can’t believe how much the natural looking greenery can be! I have got a few tricks up my sleeve to share with you today that will get you the natural look without breaking the bank.

Tips for Decorating with Artificial Christmas Greenery without breaking the bank.

Let’s start off with how much I got rid of when I brought out our Christmas decorations this year.

Ummmm.

A LOT!

I really wish I would have gone through it all before our fall yard sale. UGH!

{I digress.}

Here is my first tip when decorating with artificial Christmas greenery; if you don’t love it, don’t store it. When I pulled out the Christmas greenery this year, I put it in the “get rid of” pile right away if I didn’t love it. If it didn’t have a natural look, out it went. This doesn’t save you money per say, but it saves you space which is like gold to me. 🙂

After I went through everything, I started decorating our home. When I got everything where I thought I wanted it, I had a few wreaths left over that I wasn’t going to use. This leads into my second tip; reuse, reuse, reuse.

Since the wreaths had natural looking greenery on them, I started cutting them up!

Yep, I said it.

I used wire cutters and cut the sprigs away from the wreaths.

Then, I placed the sprigs in different areas around our house – the hutch, the glass cabinets in the dining room, the entry table, etc. This gives you a ton of Christmas greenery without spending a lot of money. If you aren’t going to use a Christmas tree, wreath, garland, etc. that has greenery on it that you love, reuse it.

Cut it up and use the pieces in different areas around your home or wire it together to make a garland.

My third tip is to shop thrift stores. Thrift stores are full of Christmas trees, garland and wreaths this time of year.

I found the garland in the wood tray on our coffee table at a thrift store. It is small, but looks natural and is perfect for little areas that you want to add Christmas greenery to.
