Personalized mugs are so fun. You can find so many different ways online to make them, but I am here to tell you that I have found the easiest way. The best part about it is that they are dishwasher-safe and there are so many options for different personalized mugs ideas. Chalk Couture makes this process so easy that you can make enough personalized mugs for you and enough to have on hand for gifts.

To make personalized mugs with Chalk Couture, you need to pick up a white mug. Wash the mug, and then wipe down the area where you are going to apply the transfer with rubbing alcohol. Then, dry the area well. Now, it is time to place the Chalk Couture transfers (I added the ones I used for this project in the supplies list, but you can choose so many other options. Head HERE to check them all out). Once you have the transfer on the mug, smooth it out so it is all stuck on the mug well – especially around the image itself. Once it is on, use the small squeegee to put the Chalk Couture Ink color of your choice over the transfer. After you have the transfer covered with ink, pull the transfer off the mug. If you are using one transfer, then you are done. If you are adding additional transfers, make sure the ink between each one is dry first. I use a hair dryer to speed up the process. Once I have all the ink on the mug, I let the mug sit for 24 hours.
Then, place them in a cold oven and then turn the oven on 350°. “Bake” the mugs for 35 minutes and turn the oven off. Leave the mugs inside the oven until it is fully cooled down. After this process, the personalized mugs are dishwasher-safe!
I created a video to show you how easy making personalized mugs with Chalk Couture really is:

How many washes in the dishwasher does this last for?
Once you heat it, it should last a long time.
Hi there, are all mugs ovenproof?? Do I have to be careful I use?
You put them in the oven to set the ink!
No. Look for stoneware our ceramic mugs.
I heard the ink is not food safe so should I put transfer down low enough where people won’t get there lips on them
You can do that for sure!
Hi,
I am having trouble with the ink coming off after I have put in oven to set. I don’t know what to do, I have tried putting Mod Podge dishwasher safe over it as well and it still is coming off. Help please.
Clean the mug with alcohol first, let completely dry. Ink project, let dry 24 hours then put it into a cold oven, heat to 350° then once it reached temp, bake for 30 mins, cut off oven and let cool inside oven. If that doesn’t work, then the type of glaze on the mug is the issue.
Great demo. I’ve been struggling with mugs as well. But never thought of using rubbing alcohol. Going to follow your steps and try again.
One question tho, I’m using coloured mugs…. will that be an issue?
I don’t think so.
Do you have any idea if this would work/stay on a mirror? My niece is going away to college and I want to make a fun makeup mirror for her. I’d like it on the glass itself.
Yes it would!
