Pretty In Pink Bench Makeover

3 Mins read

I want to thank Zibra Paint for partnering with me on the Pretty In Pink bench makeover. All opinions of their amazing brushes are my own.

This bench has been sitting in our garage, waiting patiently for me to get to it. This time of year, we are always getting ready for a huge spring sale we host at our house every year. It is more like a flea market than a yard sale sometimes and it is one of our favorite things to do. Thanks to Corona, that won’t be happening this year. UGH! I am still plowing through all the projects I need to get done and this bench was calling my name the other day. I needed a diversion from the technical issues I was having with my computer, so I brought the bench inside to start working on it.

This is a piano bench that had so much detail. I have never seen one that had the detail on the legs like this one, so I had to bring it home. (This was pre-Corona when I could hunt for cool pieces from time to time).

When I see detail like this on a piece of furniture and the finish is not great or it needs some repairs, I get excited.

I love seeing the potential pieces like this have and can’t wait to start working on them. For me, it is a release and a “break” from the other things I should be doing. đŸ™‚

To start this pink bench makeover, I cleaned the piece really well. I just use a damp cloth and some Thieves cleaner when it isn’t really grungy.

You know that I am not doing a makeover like this without my favorite paintbrush from Zibra Paint. I just got a new shipment of brushes in. It is one of my favorite mail days when these brushes show up. They are so amazing and make all my painting jobs so much easier. If you have been looking for a paintbrush company that understands the different painting jobs you do, look no further. Zibra understands painting and they have created a paintbrush for any painting job you do. Check them out! You will be so happy you did.

Not only was I excited to have a new brush to do this makeover, but I was excited to try a new paint color from Dixie Belle Paint. “Tea Rose” is the perfect pink color. It is a blush color like no other I have tried. I like that it isn’t too pink and it isn’t too peachy. It is just right.

Here’s a time-lapse video of me painting this piece:

I always get asked if I prep pieces before I paint them.

That all depends on the piece and the end result I am looking for. The Green Painted Dresser Makeover I shared recently needed a little prep, but the Bird’s Eye Maple Dresser Makeover I just completed didn’t need any. The thing I love about Dixie Belle Paint is that you don’t have to do any prep when using their paint. Sometimes, I will use their BOSS product is a piece has a lot of orange or red undertones. I don’t use it on all projects, but it is a product I recommend you have on hand if you do a lot of painting. You can always sand and prime a piece if you wanted to, but with this paint, you don’t have to. Dixie Belle Paint is amazing. I recommend it to anyone painting furniture.

With this bench, I didn’t need to prep at all. I just cleaned it well and then, applied the paint.

I applied two coats of paint to this bench.

“Tea Rose” is a beautiful color. If you are looking for a blush pink color, I would definitely recommend this one.

I decided to add a little more dimension and depth to this bench after the paint dried. I used an old brush and applied “Grunge” glaze all over the piece. This glaze is a dream to work with. It goes on so easily and is very forgiving. And, it doesn’t add too much color at once. It is a gradual effect that you can add to if needed.

The glaze gave this pink bench makeover what it needed. It took it over the top.

I can’t get over the paint color. It is the perfect color for Gabrielle’s bedroom now that we gave it a makeover. I am trying to think of other ways we can incorporate it in her room.

I was hoping the pink bench would fit in her room, but it is too big for the space I wanted to put it in. So, this little number will be finding a new home.

Would you use this pink color in your home?
