The Fastest Way To Paint Furniture

3 Mins read

I want to share the Fastest Way To Paint Furniture with you today. It is a game-changer when flipping furniture.

If you have been following me for some time here on My Creative Days, you know that I love to make over all the things. If I see potential in something, it is coming home with me. One thing you may not know about me is that I am not patient. (I can’t believe I am admitting that on the inter webs right now! I am just coming to terms with it, but I need to embrace that part of me and own it. The first hurdle was to admit it and now, I am learning to work with it).

There are some things that I have tons of patience with …………….

{Okay, I was having a hard time thinking of those things so we will just skip ahead.}

DIY projects are always fun for me, but I want them done yesterday. Not today. Yesterday. That has always been my thing. If we bring a new project home, I usually have plans for it right away and depending on what else is going on, I start working on it right away. Procrastination is never my mojo. I thrive on creating lists and I thrive even more when I am crossing things off those lists.

I have learned SO MUCH through our DIY journey. I could write posts and posts about each lesson, but today, I am going to share my most recent makeover and tell you the Fastest Way To Paint Furniture.

The Fastest Way To Paint Furniture - If you want to paint furniture, but don't think you have time, I can show you The Fastest Way To Paint Furniture that will give you the results you want without spending a lot of time to do it.

A friend of mine texted me a few weeks ago and said that she went to a house that had a lot of things I would love to buy. My friend knows me so well because as soon as I got there, I fell in love with a lot of the things that were there. {If you follow me on Instagram, I shared this picking journey with you.}

One of the pieces I brought home that day was a two-drawer chest. It didn’t look like this when I got it, but knowing my patience issue, Matt removed the hardware and started sanding it so I could paint it before I could take a before photo. #lovethatman

After we looked at the piece closer, we think that this chest was part of a bigger dresser at one time. I didn’t care. When I saw it, I thought it would work perfect in Gabrielle’s room.

At the time that we brought this chest (and many other things) home, we were knee-deep in organizing our huge fall yard sale. I didn’t have time for more projects. We were selling other pieces from Gabrielle’s room so she really needed the storage.

Now to the magic. The secret. The revelation. The thing you came to this post for.

The fastest way to paint furniture is to invest in the right paint brushes for the job!

There it is!

YOU MUST HAVE PAINT BRUSHES FOR FURNITURE TO QUICKEN THE PROCESS.

Since I first tried Zibra Paint Brushes, painting furniture is a breeze now.

For this little chest, I used their Palm Pro and it was done in twenty minutes.

I chose to paint the chest in  “Laurentien” from Fusion Mineral Paint. I recently bought a new bedspread for Gabrielle’s room and it has mint colored tassels on it. The Laurentien was a perfect match.

Since the chest was fairly low, we added casters to raise it a bit and then Gabrielle can move it around in her room easily if she wants to.

I used the original hardware and just spray painted it gold from Rustoleum.

The gold fits in perfectly with some other pieces she has in her room.

We always have a huge yard sale after I have purged all the things we aren’t using. Then, everything else is always moved around in the house. It is my mojo every year in the fall and spring.

I had the old ladder in our family room in the basement, but thought it would be cute in Gabrielle’s room to add height and storage for her blanket hoarding problem.

After I got this in her room, she was so happy. She can open the drawers better than the other piece she had and she loves the color. I was happy because I was able to bring in one piece and get rid of two. And, the makeover took me less than thirty minutes to get done. #winning

As with any DIY project, you MUST invest in great tools. We have gone the route of trying to save money and use whatever tools we have, but that has ended in blood, sweat, tears and extra money fixing whatever went wrong. The right tools will always save you time and money in the long run. For painting furniture, you need the right right paint brushes. They are definitely worth the investment.

What is one tool you use that makes your projects run smoother?
