Gruyere and Caramelized Onion Dip


  • 4 strips bacon
  • 2 onions thinly sliced
  • Hot sauce
  • 2 c. shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 3/4 c. plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 c. mayo
  • Crushed red pepper flakes


  • Cook the bacon until crispy.
  • Once it is cool, cut it in small pieces and set aside.
  • Cook the onions in a skillet over medium heat with a little olive oil. You want the onions to caramelize so cook them until they are a deep brown color. Stir them often and watch them so they don't burn.
  • Once the onions are done, mix all ingredients together and spread in a shallow pie dish (or any oven-safe dish you want to serve it in).
  • Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until it is bubbly and golden on the top.
  • Serve with crackers or baguette slices.


I didn't put an amount for the hot sauce or the red pepper flakes because it depends on how spicy you like it. If you don't like any spice at all, leave it out.
