Preheat the oven to 350°.
Spray a loaf pan, pie plate or square cake pan with non-stick spray.
Mix the first five ingredients together in a bowl.
Mix in the bananas.
Next, add in the flour, salt and baking soda.
Then, mix in the oatmeal and chocolate chips. (You can mix dry and wet in different bowls, but I have never found it to make a difference so I do it all in one bowl to make less mess to pick up when it is all done.)
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and sprinkle the top with the 4 T of sugar and 3 T of oatmeal. This topping makes it a little crunchy on the top.
Bake it for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
We have always loved adding oatmeal and chocolate chips to banana bread.
