Cheap Christmas Decorations In The Back Porch

3 Mins read

Today, I am joining Amy from Atta Girl Says and my other blogging friends to share porch inspiration for the holidays. Our back porch is usually the last area in our home that I decorate for the holidays. I try to get everything done inside and what I have leftover, ends up on the back porch. As I was pulling the back porch together, I was thinking about how little I spent on all the decor in there! The cheap Christmas decorations I added to the porch don’t look cheap, but they cost next to nothing. I am excited to share the cost and where I found the decorations I put up in there.

Make sure to stop by all of my friend’s posts at the end of this post! I love seeing how other people decorate and getting to do it from the comfort of my home is even better!

The back porch needs to stay fairly simple for us because we use this small space a lot, even in the winter. The TV is usually on the gray cabinet, but I took it down to take the photos. We watch football games, Christmas movies and eat on the back porch so there can’t be a ton of extra Christmas decorations taking up a lot of space.

The first of the cheap Christmas decorations that I added to the back porch was the faux mantel. It is different from the one we shared HERE, but the same concept. For this one, we added the shelf to the top of the dresser piece we turned upside down. I painted it a cream color and distressed it. Matt hung it on the wall and it gave me an extra area to decorate. Extra spaces to decorate make me happy.

I found some brass bells at a house I got to pick. They were perfect on the faux mantel on the porch. I picked them up at a house I picked about a month ago. Then, I added wood bead garland I picked up at Hobby Lobby for half off to the mantel as well. The black piece above the mantel is some kind of corn do-dad that I picked up with the brass bells. I am going to put Christmas cards on it when they start arriving. We made the black ornament tree from scrap wood we had in the garage. You can find that project HERE. I found the wood ornaments for $3 at Target and the flocked trees were only $3 and $5 at Target!!

The garland on top of the lights was a thrift store find years ago.

I added my thrift store tree to the other side of the back porch and put my homemade ornaments on it. Lynch Creek Farms sent me the centerpiece. It was the perfect addition to the coffee table on the porch. It smells amazing!

I found the Merry and Bright throw pillow at a yard sale this past summer and the plaid throw was a clearance find at TJ Maxx last year after Christmas.

Yard sale finds and estate sale finds were added to the side table. It added some festive decor on that side of the room.

I picked up the cable knit throw pillow last year at Target. It is a Hearth and Hand pillow that had green tassels on the corners. I didn’t love the tassels so I just cut them off. The cream throw was also a clearance find at Target that same day.

Christmas decor doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to make your home festive and welcoming for the season. Like I always say, shop your home first. See what you already have that can be used in a different way for a new season. If you need something new, shop thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales or online markets before heading to big box store. Get creative. Browse ideas online and see what you love. When you find something, come up with a way to make it at home to save money. Cheap Christmas decorations can look like you paid a million bucks! Get creative and have fun with it.
